Every year, the Office of the DC(SSI) prepares a training calendar after obtaining the schedules of various training progremmes conducted by different reputed training institutions in the country. The Calendar prepared for the year 2001-02 is placed at Annexure I. This calendar is circulated to all SISIs / RTCs etc. and officers at Headquarters for sponsoring suitable officers against each programme.
The training indents of the officers posted in SISIs/ RTCs and Headquarters are sent to IC&C division duly recommended by the concerned Heads of the Field Institutions. These requests are scrutinized and the officers are nominated for different training programmes. In addition, indents are also received from individual officers for courses, which may not have appeared in the list circulated initially and which are felt as useful by them.

Presently, training for SIDO officials focuses on the following areas: -

- Technical (mechanical, Metallurgy, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics etc.)
- Management (Export, Financial & Marketing etc.)
- Training of Trainers for EDP
- Quality Control, Testing & ISO Certification
- Environment and Pollution Control

- Energy Conservation.
