The Office of DCSSI (SIDO) has decided to actively promote SIDO officers to update their knowledge and skills by participating in international training programmes and assignments.
For this purpose, it has been decided to implement SITE (System for International Training of Employees), a computer system designed to create a data base on the educational and training profile and needs of the officers of the DCSSI and it affiliated institutions.
Objective of SITE
- to create a ‘ready to use’ data base on the employees profile.
- To utilize the data base to identify the training needs and ensure timely nominations of the officers for various training courses.
Rationale of SITE
There are a large number of international agencies, governments, etc that fund international training courses like UNIDO, ITEC, Commonwealth programmes, etc. Often, the time available for making for making nominations is extremely limited. There are two outcomes of this:
- either no nominations are made, or
- nominations are made from a narrow range of choices limited mainly to the headquarters.
The availability of a ‘ready to use’ data-base will make the process of selection more broad based and ensure timely nominations.
Who are eligible for SITE
All officers of SIDO and its affiliated institutions, of level of SIPO (Small Industry Promotion Officers) and above are eligible to become a member of the data base. The autonomous institutions (besides (SIDO) are:
- All Tool Rooms.
- All PPDCs.
- NIESIET, NIESBUD & ITC-Nilokheri.
- All CFTCs.
Advantages of being on SITE
If you are present on SITE, it means the following:
- That your are interested and available for international training.
- That your name may be picked up from the data-base, that is, your candidature is available for consideration at all times for international training programmes.
Disadvantages of not being on SITE
- Lack of sufficient time may imply that your name is not even considered for training/ assignment.
- The time consumed in sending/receiving papers ensures that nomination dealines are not met.
