1. MOS (SSI&ARI) has decided that a meeting of the North-East Hills Task Force be convened just before SSI Board meeting and in the meanwhile the officers of the North-East be requested to interact with concerned officers in the Ministry for sorting out specific problems.

Action: Meeting convened for 30th May 2001.

2. NEDFI would be invited to the SSI Board and the North-East Task Force as a special invitee

Action: NEDFI has been co-opted as a member of the North-East Force and invited to the SSI Board Meeting.

3. Various suggestion/requests received from State Governments in respect of North-East Industrial Policy concerning Transport Subsidy, Income Tax Exemption and extension of incentives to all over the state rather than specified industrial estates would be taken up with the concerned Ministries of the Government of India.

Action: A detailed note would be prepared after interaction in the meeting on 30th May 2001.

4. NEDFI would be requested to open branch offices in each state.

Action: NEDFI has initiated steps in this regard.

5. The IID scheme would be examined by the Office of DC (SSI) to consider requests from certain State Governments to accommodate the cost of land in the project or treating part of expenditure already incurred as contribution from State Government in view of the peculiar land tenure system prevailing in these states.

Action: The Office of DC (SSI) is currently examining the request.

6. A Bible of schemes of all Central and State agencies involved in industrialisation be prepared, preferably by Associations, with information being supplied by the Government.

Action: Work has been initiated on compilation of Central schemes.

7. Each State Government in the North-East would be requested to indicate the name of one SSI Association which could be included as a Member of the SSI Board.

Action: All State Government of the North East have been requested in this regard. Reply has been received from Meghalaya and Manipur.

8. PMRY target for Nagaland would be increased to 500 and the request from Tripura in this respect would be examined by the Office of DC (SSI).

Action: Office of DC (SSI) shall be issuing necessary orders in respect of Nagaland shortly. The request from Tripura is being examined.

9. Upgradation of BI Dimapur and BI Aizwal to full fledged Institutes and strengthening of SISI Imphal and SISI Agartala would be examined.

Action: Matter currently under examination in the context of recommendations of the Expenditure Reforms Commission.

10. Inclusion of all SSI/SSSBE activities under North-East Industrial Policy would be taken up with the concerned Ministry.

Action: This would from part of the detailed note to be prepared after the first meeting.

11. Decision on pending proposals of Government of Tripura on EDI at Agartala and Training-cum-Production Center of Coir Board would be expedited.

Action: EDI at Agartala-Documentary evidence towards transfer to land sought from State Government. Proposal to be put up for consideration of Screening Committee after receipt of information for release of grants.

Training-cum-Production Centre-Coir Board has agreed and sent a proposal to Ministry of SSI & ARI for approval.

12. KVIC will attempt to put in place a monitoring system similar to PMRY for Margin Money Scheme.

Action: A suitable monitoring system is being finalised by KVIC.

13. IIE has prepared training programmes as desired.

14. The services of Cane & Bamboo Technical Center at Guwahati be utilised alongwith KVIC for project on Cane & Bamboo in Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.

Action: The matter has been taken up with UNDP and KVIC. UNDP, in consultation with KVIC, is preparing the action plan for training in advance tools & equipment, distribution of such tools & equipment and providing design inputs.
