Tool Room & Training Centre, Guwahati

 Government of India is setting up a Tool Room & Training Centre (TRTC) at Guwahati jointly with State Government of Assam to cater to the needs of the North East region. The project has been registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Centre will be located in an area of about 6.7 acres of land in Amingaon Industrial Area, Guwahati .

The main objectives of TRTC are:-
  1. To design and manufacture tools, dies, jigs and fixtures etc.

  2. To impart training to young persons in tool and die making.

  3. To impart training to young persons in use of Computers in Design and Manufacturing.

  4. To create a base for establishing advanced tool making facilities when needed.

The Centre will be equipped with the latest machinery and equipments such as CNC lathe, CNC milling machine, PC’s latest version, simulated programming software, CAD/CAM software.

The Centre envisages training programmes on following areas:-
  1. Certificate course in Tool & Die Making of 3 years duration with intake of 20 per annum.

  2. Computer Aided Design & Computer Aided Manufacturing, CNC programming and other hi-tech short-term courses for Graduate Engineers and Diploma holders with intake of 70 per annum.

  3. Refresher courses.

The training will cover both theoretical as well as practical aspects. The fee will be charged barest minimum possible. The Tool room & Training Centre will start offering training and consultancy services from January, 2002 from the Office of Director of Industries, Assam and SISI, Guwahati.
